Paul Moak is a Grammy-nominated producer, engineer, mixer, and Universal Music Publishing songwriter based in Nashville, TN.
Hailing from Jackson, MS, Paul migrated to Nashville in 1998 and spent the next decade touring and recording as an in-demand session player. It was during this time that he realized that his true passion lay on the other side of the board - as a producer, engineer, mixer, and writer.
Paul’s work has appeared on numerous platinum and gold albums and been featured on hit TV shows such as One Tree Hill, Private Practice, Pretty Little Liars, and The Vampire Diaries.
His credits include an impressive roster of artists, covering a wide variety of music: Mat Kearney, Third Day, Lovedrug, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Martha Wainwright, Monroe/Dabbs, Madi Diaz, House of Heroes, Jennifer Knapp, and Matthew Mayfield, to name a few.
Paul first opened his studio, The Smoakstack, in the Berry Hill region of Nashville in 2004. A few years and one giant quarter-mile move later, The Smoakstack’s current home is now a 3,000-square-foot recording studio filled with vintage instruments, state-of-the-art gear, and, most importantly… vibe.
With over 40 guitars, century-old pianos, a wide array of drums, and a massive collection of vintage microphones, The Smoakstack hosts each artist whom Paul has the pleasure of working with. He considers the studio to be an extension of his personality, as it fulfills his desire to provide an inspiring and comfortable artistic atmosphere for creating great music.
